HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Blair County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 21st, 2022 at the Roller Hojeth Memorial Library, 431 Scotch Valley Rd.
Dr. Julie L. Decker, assistant professor in nursing at Mount Aloysius College, will present on the service of the U.S. Army nurses during the Vietnam War at the Blair County Genealogical Society, April 21, 2022 at 7 pm. The presentation is titled, Serving with Honor: US Army Nurses during the Vietnam War.
A true nurse historian at heart, Dr. Decker engages in research and offers educational presentations on the history and legacy of America’s military nurses spanning their service in General Washington’s continental army to the present day. These presentations bring to light the often forgotten service of nurses during our country’s times of war as well as peace.
Dr. Decker and her husband, Doug, reside in Hollidaysburg and are the parents of two young adults, Katherine and Greg. The entire family is deeply committed to preserving the past by educating the public on America’s history through participating in military re-enactments of the Civil War, World War II, and Vietnam eras.
