HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Blair County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:00 pm Thursday, September 19 at the Roller Hojeth Memorial Library, 431 Scotch Valley Rd. Hollidaysburg, PA.
Our speaker for September will be author Kevin Stiver discussing his new book “Overcoming the Alleghenies”. The book entails stories of the area’s earliest days with the Kittanning Trail, the construction of the Huntingdon, Indiana, and Cambria turnpike, the use of the Allegheny Portage Railroad, and the history of how the Horseshoe Curve became world famous.
Books will be available to purchase at the meeting for $20 along with his previous publication about the mining village Glen White.
All presentations are free and open to the public. The building is handicap accessible. Donations are accepted and appreciated.
